Karate Highs: Being awarded my black belt in May 2007 was a huge karate high for me. However since then I feel my karate has improved bit by bit and I understand things a little better. Competing in the European Championships in Hungary 2007 for the first time was another mile stone for me. I didn’t win anything but the whole experience was brilliant, everyone was friendly and welcoming. Now I can’t wait for Italy 2008.
Karate Lows: I have no specific karate lows although generally being injured at any point gives me a karate low, its very difficult not to train when that’s all you want to do. It’s difficult to reduce or even stop training especially when you’re trying to prepare for a grading or competitions.
Favourite Kata: I am slowly discovering that as with many things (like food and films) favourite katas change. Jion is one of my favourite katas however with my reoccurring shoulder injury it can be quite difficult to perform correctly. I am becoming fonder of empi and kankudai although I’m not sure I’d class them as favourites just yet.
The People I trained with at SSKC: Old days: Vicky and Chris Powell, then more recently Dave Stavenau, Paul Brant, Dom Schilke, Thomas Gott etc
My Sensei at SSKC: Sensei Ash and Andy
